I am often guilty of spending my day doing nothing but keeping my nose buried deep in a book and this was one of those days. I started this book around lunchtime today and had finished by 5.30pm! I devoured this book so quickly and I LOVED it.
Eddie is possibly one my most favourite characters EVER. He was just so funny, cute and I totally want him to be my gay best friend! (If only he was real!)
Often in chick-lit novels I find myself predicting the outcome but I was unable to do so with this book. I had no idea where all the characters would end up and I was so surprised and thrilled by the ending. I was getting anxious towards the end as everything seemed to be falling apart and I was pleading with the remaining pages to be kind to the characters and ensure everything turned out OK!
Georgie works in the handbag section of Carrington’s which is a posh department store that is struggling through the tough financial climate. Georgie has a troubled past, is in massive debt and her job is in jeopardy when Maxine, (a bitch) is employed to help Carrington’s get back on their feet. Maxine starts to cause problems and soon friendships and relationships are tested to the max.
Georgie often finds herself upstairs in Cupcakes At Carringtons with the owner and baker friend Sam and they put the world to rights bitching and scheming over a red velvet cupcake or two (dribbles)!
The characters that Alexandra has created are fabulous and as I have already gushed over Eddie I should probably talk about the others! I liked Georgie and found myself sympathising with her multiple times but wasn’t envious of her having to choose between James and Tom, two rather dishy guys that work at Carrington’s! I thought Sam was a good addition to Georgies story and I felt ridiculously sorry for her when she goes through a tough time in the book.
I cannot wait for the second installment called Christmas At Carrington’s which is due for release at the beginning of November!!
Pure indulgence from start to finish.
