Lily has moved to Australia with her mum and is not looking forward to living there one bit. She would rather be in England with her dad and his girlfriend. Lily is only sixteen and wants to spend summer at home with her friends, not in Australia in the middle of nowhere with no one she knows.
Over the first few days, Lily realises she needs to make the most of her experience so takes up her Mum’s new boyfriend’s offer of working at the local conservation park. Whilst working there, Lily meets Ben who is much older than her. She develops a school girl crush on him and begins to try and spend as much time with him as she can, forgetting their age difference. Ben seems to show an interest in Lily but is forever mindful of their age difference. Ben leaves to go to England and get married, so Lily is left heartbroken and gets on with her life, always feeling as though part of her is missing.
Fast forward ten years and Lily is in a relationship with Richard and he has just asked her to marry him… why is it, when he is down on one knee, all Lily can think about is Ben?
She hasn’t seen him for ten years but can’t forget about him. How can Lily ever be happy until she finds out how Ben feels about her now?
I loved this book so much, the time changes and Australia back drop really appealed to me. I liked Lily as a character and the early relationship between her and Ben was magical and the kind of summer romance everyone wants to experience.
If you have never read and Paige Toon before then this is definitely the book to start with! It will have you laughing, crying and will make you want to move to Australia!
