Red Dress by Megan Wood
Megan is a HUGE bookworm and is a well respected and loved reviewer. When not reading, Megan is likely to be watching films with popcorn and spending time with her husband. Megan recently got married and I think you'll agree she made the most beautiful bride! Reading In The Sunshine is Megan's blog and is a brilliant read. You can also follow the lovely Megan on Twitter.
When I mentioned Christmas Flash Fiction Megan was quick to get involved and I absolutely love what she has written! (I really want to know what happens next!)

“I’ll be waiting for you outside the restaurant at 8pm. See you there!”
I couldn’t wait, after three months of emails, late night messaging, and imagining what he would be like in real-life, I was finally going to meet him!
We met by accident, he was sending a general email to a friend and mis-spelt the address, causing him to end up in my inbox on what was a dreary Autumn day. And I, having nothing better to do, replied, sparking something so much more exciting than I ever imagined. I admit, when I sent a jokey reply, I expected it to disappear off into the abyss, gone in a flicker of a moment. But a few minutes later, there was a ping and another message from this mysterious stranger awaited me. The romantic in me likes to think it was fate, that an angel up in heaven finally decided that I needed something good in my life, and decided to intervene.
From that day I felt as though someone had breathed life into my tired body – I felt exhilarated every morning, knowing that when I woke up there would be a ray of sunshine sitting in my inbox waiting to be unwrapped like a Christmas present, feverishly and with a sense of magic.
I’d spent weeks fantasising about him, he told me that he was tall, dark-haired and I immediately conjured up images of a Gerard Butler lookalike in my head.
I had been shopping for the perfect outfit the week before. It felt wonderful wandering through the market, with the twinkly lights around the Christmas stalls, and the smell of hot roasted chestnuts lingering in the air. I felt giddy as I looked around and realised no-one else knew my reason for being there, as though this date was a shared special secret just between me and him.
I was so swept up in the winter atmosphere that I almost walked past it. There in the window display of a little boutique, surrounded by holly wreaths, was the most beautiful outfit I’d ever seen - a gorgeous red woollen dress. I tried it on and the shop assistant cried, telling me “He’ll love it darling!” I hoped he would – I so wanted this date to be my dream come true.
Tonight I’d teamed it with black leggings and red shoes – or “Dorothy shoes” as my mum fondly called them. It felt cosy and seasonal but hopefully alluring in a subtle way.
“You look beautiful.” came a sexy voice from behind me. I turned around and gazed up to the man standing in front of me. I gasped and my breath caught in my chest – he was devastatingly handsome, with a smile that both melted my heart and caused a flutter of butterflies in my stomach.
He presented me with a red rose and softly kissed my cheek, making me blush with excitement. He then held the door open for me and asked “Are you ready to go in? You have no idea how much I’ve been looking forward to this.”
Wish me luck! Hopefully this was going to be the Christmas where my life finally began, where my life would finally sparkle.
