The Longest Holiday was published on Thursday (25th) and I was lucky enough to receive a review copy from Ally at Simon & Schuster (Thank you Ally!!).
I have been so excited about reading this book ever since I saw the front cover. It is absolutely gorgeous!
For me, this book was definitely Paige’s best work by far. The setting was tropical, the characters were lovable and the plot was so so brilliant.
Laura (from Chasing Daisy) is in a difficult marriage. Something from her husbands past has recently come to light and she doesn’t think she can accept what he has done. To try and escape from her life, she goes on holiday to Key West with her friend Marty. They stay in a little hotel and soon start to forget about England as they enjoy cocktails, scuba diving and the gorgeous men! Laura soon becomes attracted to Leo, a scuba diving instructor who is the most gorgeous man she has ever laid eyes on! However, Leo has a few secrets to hide about his past; not everything is rosy.
With her husband on the other side of the world trying to make it up to her and a man in Key West who is intuiging, what should she do? Should she fly home and sort things out with Matthew or should she stay in Key West and see where life takes her?
After all…’Don’t wait for the storm to pass, learn to dance in the rain….’
There are some amazing plot twist in this novel and my emotions constantly kept changing as different things kept happening which threatened to change the ending I wanted for the characters! The most addictive and thrilling book of hers so far.
When I read Chasing Daisy I wasn’t a fan of Laura, I thought she was quite harsh and stuck up, but reading about her life in this book, we see a completely different side to her. I fell in love with her quickly and found myself behind all of her actions, I would have done the same in her situation. Leo was a sexy, dark character who at first I found hard to love, but over the course of the book he really grew on me. He is nearly as hot as Ben from Pictures Of Lily. (I love how I spend my life concerned with how hot fictional men are.)
I would recommend you pick this book up straight away! If you have never read any Paige Toon before then this is the perfect place to start and, if you have, then this is just another spectacular book to add to your collection of her books. I finished this in one afternoon but was SO sad that it had ended, I wanted it to carry on forever! I will re-read this book in years to come. FANTASTIC!
