Lucy is sitting on a plane about to take off to fly to Sydney for the wedding of her friends Sam and Molly. An announcement alerts Lucy that all passengers must turn their phones off before take off and she quickly realises that she hasn’t turned hers off. She squeezes past the disgusting fat man sitting next to her and reaches into the overheard lockers to get her bag. She rummages around to find her phone and when she does, realises she has a text message from her boyfriend James. deciding she wants to quickly read it before they take off, she presses ‘read’ and is greeted with the message, ‘Hi Lucy, just shagged James in ur bed. Thought u should know. Nice Sheets! xxxxxxx’
It quickly dawns on Lucy that the message wasn’t acually from James and must have been from someone who was sleeping with her boyfriend. She starts to panic and decides to ring James. She doesn’t get the chance because the plane is due to take off and she is delaying the flight. Distraught, Lucy turns her phone off and makes the long journey to Sydney questioning what is left of her relationship.
When she lands she rings James and he denies any knowledge about the text and suggests it was probably his friends playing a cruel joke on her. Reluctantly, Lucy believes him but decides to not let him ruin her short stay with her lovely friends in Sydney.
Whilst she is down-under Lucy meets Nathan who is Sam’s younger brother, and, in the ten years since she has last seen him, notices that he is now nothing short of breathtakingly gorgeous! Lucy and Nathan get on really well but her time in Sydney is limited so she leaves just as quickly as she arrived.
When Lucy returns home to James, she starts to realise how much of an impression Nathan had on her and starts to wonder if she will ever get the chance to see him again. ..
I adored the character of Lucy and found myself 100% behind her and her actions. I often felt angry and upset on her behalf and couldn’t stand James; he was a nasty piece of work. Paige creates her characters with such love that I really felt I knew them so well. I got so caught up in this book and found it incredibly difficult to put down. I love a book that can rapidly escort you to someone else’s story and not give you up easily.
Bravo!
