Miss Manners - Iman Sid

Miss Manners has been described as Ladette to Lady meets Britain’s Got Talent. Anna, the heroine of the story is working as a shop assistant/celebrity mascot at Harrold’s department store. After a very public spat with a celebrity, Anna ends up losing her job, her car and money all in one day.
In desperation, Anna accepts an assignment to go undercover at a Miss Manners contest and she details her adventures along the way including her romantic one including a case of mistaken identity. During her transformation from the girl next door to being primped and preened within an inch of her life, Anna discovers hidden strengths within herself and begins to appreciate the support of her friends.
The style of writing engages the reader from the start and I found the story very fast-paced and interesting. There were some parts of the storyline that appeared a little too easy for me (i.e. that Anna decided on a whim to enter the Miss Manners’ contest and was easily accepted) but the writing style was warm and easy and as this is a first novel, I will be interested to read what Iman Sid writes next, especially as a sequel is hinted at the end of the book!
