Two and five. Just two digits that when put together, conjure up a whole photograph filled with fantasies, laughter and streaks of green and red; not forgetting the crackle of the fire. Two digits unite religions, families, long lost lovers, sisters and brothers. They uncover secrets and friendships never to be lost. As well as the odd bauble, peeking out from under the sofa.
Soon, white washed walls are spotted with lights, laughter and love instead of dull blankness that contrasts with normal family life. Boxes in the attics, basements and corners of long forgotten rooms, yet again bathe in the gentle moonlight, which promises the decorations that come along with festive cheer. Tinsel is often found strewn across the room, along with the tendrils of metallic wrapping paper. They refuse to be forgotten, blinking and winking as they catch the light.
No darkness can be found. In no crooks, spaces or gaps in walls. In no person. As though opinions and subjects may divide us, we always come together. Through love. Through friendship. Through humanity. Through Christmas.
